Lisa and Shaun tied the knot in Upper Lake, Calif., on Saturday June 11. The wedding and reception site was in a walnut orchard, where paper lanterns, twinkle lights and small crystals hung throughout the trees. It’s so obviously how in love the bride and groom are. I was honored to be part of their special day! Here are just a few highlights from the occasion.

A few weeks back, I had the pleasure of working with Stephanie Michele on a very creative photo shoot of a gorgeous expectant mother. Stephanie did the hair, makeup and creative stylings, and I took the photographs.
Despite some strange lighting, they turned out very well! And I hope to do more maternity photos when this beautiful mother-to-be gets just a little further along.

The photos with husband and wife didn’t quite turn out, so I hope to incorporate many of those into photo shoot no. 2. After that? Pictures of baby!

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and every year on the same day during this month, millions of people wear denim to help eliminate persistent harmful attitudes regarding why, where and how women are raped.

This event was triggered in Italy — by an Italian Supreme Court decision that overturned a rape conviction, saying that the victim, who was wearing “tight jeans,” must have helped her attacker remove those jeans.

This, according to the court, inferred consent. Enraged women in the Italian Parliament launched into action; they protested by wearing jeans on the steps of the Supreme Court, which motivated the female members of the California Senate and Assembly to do the same.

Since then, wearing jeans on this day has become an international symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault.

I was chosen by the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CALCASA) to photograph Sacramento’s Denim Day 2011 — an inspiring event, indeed. You can view all the photos in the CALCASA Flickr stream.

I spent an hour or so in Old Sacramento with soon-to-be wed Lisa and Shaun, walking around and snapping photos at any spot that looked fun and/or interesting. It was a great time with these two, and I look forward to capturing all the memories on their upcoming wedding day!! There were many more photos, but here were a few of my favorite.

It’s gorgeous today, as well it should be, since we’re celebrating Saint Patrick — the most commonly recognised of the patron saints of Ireland (not many people realize this is a religious celebration). In any event, my tribute to St. Patrick is via photos of green — whatever green and somewhat inspiring things I saw today.

My favorite? Definitely the cupcakes my coworker baked and decorated herself. How cute are those!? I also quite like the one above — a bit abstract, don’t you think?

No matter how ordinary or mundane the item, though, I had a lot of fun taking pictures and editing them … even having used my basic iPhone 3G camera to take the photos (that’s right — not even 3GS [I'm waiting for the 5G this fall!])

Last month, My husband and I — along with  my sister and her husband — took a trip to Maui. And while we were there, I took advantage of the island, snapping photos every chance I got. Above is one of my favorites from the trip. On our drive to Hana, we stopped to hike through the bamboo forest and up to a 400-foot waterfall. Along the hike, we came across this giant Banyan tree. I can’t wait to put this one up in our home!

And if you like this photo, it — along with others — are available for purchase in any size or medium you’d like!

Though I’ve blogged for sacmag.com for about a year and a half, I’ve not had my own blog. Now that I do, however, I will use this to post experiences on various projects, whether for clients, or for myself, friends and family.

The truth is, the more I grow and learn about photography and design, the more I want to increase the amount I do it. Over the coming months, I will complete a few websites and photograph a wedding. I’m excited about everything going on, and look forward to sharing the experiences here!
